Dr. Helen Turner heads two integrated teams: The Laboratory of Phamracology and Analytics (LPA), and the Chaminade Data AI Research Team (DART). Brief description of their focus areas are as follows:
LPA: Our laboratory has expertise in electrophysiology, cell biology, protein biochemistry, modeling, molecular biology, data analytics, AI and Machine Learning. We study the signaling processes in immunocytes and neurons that underlie physiological and pathophysiological responses to environmental challenges, including physical stimuli, toxins, plant-derived small molecules, and anthropogenic inputs such as novel nano-materials and environmental toxins. We seek new therapeutic targets and approaches that can modify inflammation and pain. Major funders are NIH, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, NSF and industry sponros including GB Global Biopharma.
DART: This research team has a broad msision to build cpacity, conduct applied resrecah and offer training and workfirce developemnt in advanced data sceinec techniques, AI/ML, and advanced cyberinfrastructure. DART supports the natural, human, economic and strategic secuirty of Hawaii and teh US-affiliated Pacific through these activities and is jointly affiliated with our College of Busibess Innovation and Technology and the Chaminade UNITAR CIFAL Center, Major funders are NIH, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, NSF, Pacific Intelleigen Innovation Initiative and private foundations.
